Team 145 is one of many teams in the world that compete on different levels to build a robot to complete a task. In a typical FIRST season, teams go through several processes using skills from mathematics, sciences, and technology to build and operate their robot. Competition usually requires a team to travel distances, where they will meet up with hundreds of other teams and team members to compete in an event.
In all of this, the team needs parts, woods, metals, and resources to build the robot. Not to mention costs for traveling and shipping the robot. This requires several thousand dollars, dependent on the team's progress through competition. Due to the limited budget of the schools, and the team's members, some of this money needs to come from a third party. This is where sponsors donate a said amount. Sponsors can donate money, parts, and/or resources for the robot or team.
In return for providing money and/or parts to a team, the team responds by offering advertisements on the website, and even the robot. This means if you are a sponsor your logo could be seen by hundreds, potentially thousands of people.
